| What is Asbestos? | Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral-based material that is resistant to heat and corrosive chemicals. |
| Asbestos appears as a whitish fibrous material. Airborne asbestos fibers can cause health damage and may be too small to see with the naked eye. | |
| What are the types of Asbestos? | There are four types of Asbestos: |
(1) Chrysotile- white, fine flexible fibers. This is the most commonly used type in the U.S. (3) Crocidolite- Straight blue fibers, used in high temperature applications. (4) Anthopyllite, Tremolite, Actinolite- Extremely rare, little commercial value and are usually found as contaminates in asbestos containing materials. |

| What are the dangers of asbestos exposure? | Exposure to asbestos can cause: |
| (1) ASBESTOSIS- scarring of the lungs, which in an accelerated state can cause death. (2) MESOTHELIOMA- cancer affecting the membrane lining of the lungs also can cause death. (3) LUNG CANCER (4) CANCER- of the esophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum. | |
